The Waiting Game That Costs Millions
I frequently come across investors waiting for the “perfect moment” to enter the market. They keep track of interest rates, analyse trends, and hesitate while opportunities tend to pass them by. Meanwhile, our committed clients continue buying properties, regardless of market conditions. They know the secret of how best to invest in property begins when you take investment action sooner, rather than later.
The contrast this shows is striking. After 5-10 years, those who wait before investing often remain on the sidelines, while those who committed have built substantial equity to reinvest and scale up their portfolios, and have built reliable rental income streams. They’ve managed to grow portfolios able to take advantage of tax breaks like the Section 13 sex deductions for 5 or more qualifying rental properties.
Why Property Rewards Patient Investors
Property investment becomes successful as a result of three forces that strengthen over time:
- Capital Appreciation: The long-term property trend in South Africa consistently moves upward if you choose your property with due diligence. Modest first-year growth can transform into substantial wealth over 10-15 years.
- Mortgage Reduction and Equity Accumulation: Every month, your tenant pays their rent, and at the same time, they’re helping reduce your bond, building equity regardless of market conditions.
